Making this lens a great choice for both stills and video is the implementation of a power zoom mechanism and Handycam technology that provides smooth, quiet zooming and focusing. Also, it uses two extra-low dispersion elements and three aspherical elements to combat aberrations for crisp, clean images.

Design

This 18-105mm lens, is a flexible mid-range zoom for APS-C format E-mount cameras. It offers a wide-angle to short telephoto 27-157.5mm equivalent focal length. That is suitable for a variety of shots, including expansive landscapes, close-up portraits, and distant subjects.

With a fixed maximum aperture of f/4, performance is consistent over the zoom range. And shallow depth of field techniques has more control over where the focus should be placed.

The lens design incorporates two extra-low dispersion glass elements to assist lessen chromatic aberrations and color fringing for greater clarity and color neutrality.
